I'll spare you the detailed explanation of my tragic tale, along with the in-depth journey my fragile mind and feelings have endured recently. All you really need to know is that our washing machine has retired. In more direct terms; it is dead. For all you moms out there, I'm sure you know the major role a washing machine plays in the home, especially a cloth diapering home. (There will be no memorial or service, but in lieu of flowers you may donate to it's replacement - JUST KIDDING)

Hubby K and I have recently reflected that it feels like everything is hitting us at once. For people who love saving money and never spending it, this has been a real eye-opener. We have saved money for "emergencies" but I am realizing there is no point saving that money if you never intend on actually using it.
There is an old story in the Bible where a man named Joseph is given an interpretation of a king's dream. The dream showed that there was going to be seven years of great wealth and prosperity, but then seven years of famine to follow. God then used Joseph to help the king make a plan to save resources during the years of plenty so that when the famine came there was enough for their country and more. Joseph knew when to save and when to spend.
So what now you ask? Well it's back to the basics. I have hand washed my cloth diapers. I can honestly say I've enjoyed the time travel experience. There is something so relaxing and fulfilling that takes place while working with one's hands doing mindless repetitive chores. Having said that, when I found BabyK's (disposable) diapers for 65% off the regular price in the store the other day I took it as a sign that God was allowing me a vacation. Sorry environment, we will get back to doing our part when the new appliances arrive.
Matthew 6:19-21
"Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also"
