Sunday May 12, 2019 may not be special to you, but it is to me. Here’s why.

My husband and I had been trying to conceive for a little over a year now. At last my monthly menstruation was 5 weeks late and the anticipation was getting to me.

I hadn’t slept at all the night before as we had finally bought a pregnancy test and were waiting for the morning for optimal conditions. Being the frugal people we are, we had purchased 1 test from the dollar store. Set and ready to go, I peed into the little cup provided. My husband took the dropper and transferred the urine to the small square. We waited. We continued to wait. The test seemed to be broken. Being an “instructions kind of girl”, I grabbed the paper and read on .

I soon discovered we had placed the urine in the result window and not the testing reservoir. Try as we might, it was too late. The damage was done and our little tester from the dollar store would not be giving anyone news of any kind.

Strangely enough, it didn’t seem to matter. As we attended our usual Sunday Service, a young girl wished me a happy Mother’s Day. She then paused and asked if I was officially a mother. I smiled to thank her, replying that I wasn’t one yet. Somehow, inside, I knew that wasn’t completely true. My husband and I decided to splurge and buy a fool-proof test from the pharmacy. We waited for the the next morning for the test to confirm what I already knew. On Mother’s Day 2019 I knew that motherhood was on it’s way. On Monday May 13, 2019 I had a test to prove it.
