I've wanted to be a mother for as long as I can remember. My mom must have made it look like quite the luxurious life. I remember the early days being filled with laughter and adventure. We baked, coloured and crafted most days. From working bees and chores; board games and shopping trips; we worked together, and played together.

I have never once heard my mom complain about having kids. I've never heard her say anything negative about taking care children. She never made me feel like we were a mistake or a burden to her. We were her call in life, and she was going to answer it with 100% commitment.
Needless to say, I was inspired and I got my babysitter's licence as soon as I could. I absolutely loved getting the chance to look after children, if even for only a few hours. Then I became a camp counselor in the summers; it was like graduating from a bicycle to a sedan.
But my dream didn't stop there. When planning for a career I specifically tried to find a job that would work with being a mom in the event the dream would one day be a reality (I know there are people out there who can be both a mother and an astronaut, but I'm not one of those people). I also made sure that the guy I would marry would want kids.
Now here I am, sitting in awe that I have finally become what I've always wanted to be: a mom. I feel so grateful that God would place such a wondrous dream in my heart and see it through for me. Even when I mess it up, He's there putting things back together. When I think that this desire to be a parent is shared with my Father God, my mind explodes. And yet, who better to learn from than the One who has done this billions of times?
Motherhood might be something that was put on your heart from the beginning, or it may have fallen into your lap unexpectedly. It doesn't matter. What matters is, if you pick up that call, you stay on the line. My mom might not be perfect, but she chooses to be a mom day in and day out. I know that not everyone is dealt as good of a hand as I was, but if you are blessed to be a mom, you can do it. Everything you need to be a mom is all within your reach. You just need to ask.
Isaiah 49:15-16
“Can a mother forget the baby at her breast and have no compassion on the child she has borne? Though she may forget, I will not forget you! See, I have engraved you on the palms of my hands;
your walls are ever before me."
