As many of you know, I love finding ways to save money and use the resources we already have at our finger tips. I was raised to take financial stewardship seriously and to reduce waste where possible. Today, I was able to solidify a new momma-hack to my repertoire that I believes fits in nicely with the way I want to live.

Like any mom, I had started to accumulate several stained articles of clothing, facecloths, towels, etc. but I felt bad about giving them away or sending them to be recycled. Then I remembered my sister-in law's hack; all purpose dye.. After some internet research and $6.97, I purchased a bottle of Rit.

It was pretty nerve wracking at first. I had wanted to save time by using the washing machine method, yet, I didn't want to ruin my beautiful new washer and dryer or the next load of clothes. Deciding to trust the process, I dove in. (You can find the instructions I used here).

I'm kicking myself now for not taking before and after photos. The transformation is impressive! With one bottle of dye I was able to give new life to; 1 shirt, 1 pair of pants, 2 hand towels, 2 dish towels, 4 dishcloths and 4 facecloths. I have to say, I'm pretty chuffed with the results.

Things to take note of; the dye only was effective on white material. Areas that were previously died a different colour, had a vinyl print or the threads themselves were unaffected.

This is kind of what God has done for me with my life. The things of my past which would have "stained me", Jesus has washed and covered. All the wrongs I have ever done and may still commit, He has forgiven. All I have to do is trust the process

2 Corinthians 5:17

"Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!"
