… Getting Organized

I received some really great advice that rang true to me. The advice was that ones non-electronic entertainment options should be as (or more) accessible than the electronic options. In other words, if your goal is to reduce the family screen time but the books and games are stored away and tablet or phone is within reach; you might want to rethink your game plan (pun most certainly intended).

So, this is exactly what we did. I love organizing, so any excuse to go through my things and find a better, more efficient way to store and make use of items makes me very happy. I enthusiastically brought down all the board games from a small linen closet upstairs and put them in our entertainment unit in the center of our living room.

I'd like to say this has radically changed my TV show intake, but in effort to be transparent, I have to say; I could still definitely improve. Has it made a difference at all? I think so. BabyK has a few games she asks for on a daily basis ("Jenga", "Snug as a Bug on a Rug" and "Dominoes" are the favourites), and that alone is worth the change.

It also has gotten me thinking of other areas that could use some reorganization (and I'm not talking about the obvious closets or kitchen). If I want to wake up each morning and let my thankfulness to God be the first thing out of my mouth, how can I set up my life in order to promote this habit? If I want to live a life of gratitude, how can I set up habits of being thankful?

Psalm 5:3

"In the morning, Lord, you hear my voice; in the morning I lay my requests before you and wait expectantly."
