... Funny

As a kid I remember if I ever stated that my food tasted funny or my tummy felt funny my father always replied by asking what I meant by "funny"; was it funny-haha, funny-strange or funny-call 911? In this case while referring to motherhood, I think it is safe to assume all three options can apply.
Funny- call 911 is when funny no longer means funny. Thankfully we haven't gotten to this point with BabyK, and I pray we never do. In the early days, there were moments my own heart stopped as I stared intently at her chest every 5 minutes just to make sure I could still see it rising and falling. "Funny" how as soon as we get our wish for these babies to be quiet, we instantly wish they would make some noise so we know they are ok.

Funny-strange happens on garbage day when its time to empty the diaper pail. Even if I take a deep breath in before proceeding, I inevitably get a whiff of some foreign, spicy diaper that has been sitting for the last week. No-tasty, no-tasty.
Funny-haha is a common occurrence in this house. BabyK is always doing things that make me laugh. Most recently we discovered she could, in fact, feed herself. While preparing her lunch one day, out of the corner of my eye I watched as her little hand grabbed a cheerio and brought it to her mouth with ease. Sure enough, as soon as I was watching, all the muscles that had once been able to complete the task took a holiday and she insisted I place the cheerios in her mouth. To make things even more comical, today BabyK not only insisted that she could not place the cheerios in her mouth, but was more than capable of placing them in mine. She was full of giggles and I was full of cereal. Clearly she found it even more amusing than I did.
Whether the funny things that reach into our lives are serious, serendipitous or just flat out humorous, I firmly believe we need them all. It is important to be reminded why this time together on this earth is so precious. It is also good to be caught in the wonder of how God seems to orchestrate things. Best of all, the cheer these little ones stir into our lives seems to be the perfect tool to open our hearts to all that a day may bring.
Ecclesiastes 3: 1 & 4
"There is a time for everything...A time to cry and a time to laugh."
