... Baking Cookies

Please know that I am not qualified to give you any official dietary advice, but I do believe that cookies are good for the soul regardless of the sugar quantities.
As a little girl, my mother used to bake large batches of gingerbread for the Holiday season. This gingerbread was famous and for good reason. The dough made a soft pillow-like cookie, and was decorated with smarties. Us youngins would crowd the counter and fight over who got to decorate what with how many candies. It got so bad my mom had to start making rules on how many smarties were allowed on one cookie so there would be enough left for the older children to decorate theirs.

I can't remember all the details, but laughter and love fill my cookie baking memories.
There was something so magical about getting to school the next day to find one of your personalized cookies waiting for you, and instantly being transported back to mom's kitchen when you took that first bite.
This year I got to share this wonderful tradition with BabyK. Well sort of. To be honest I did all the "making" and she just jumped in her jolly jumper. But regardless of the details, I still can say that baking in the kitchen is my happy place and I'm looking forward to the years when BabyK will get to be even more involved.
I can't help but wonder if God shares these same feelings. Maybe He's excited when He gets to show us our first sunrise. Maybe He too gets filled with warm fuzzies at the thought of making memories with us. I know I still get goosebumps when I reminisce on the times when I've known in my heart that He was with me.
In the end, I think He has a much harder job of teaching me how to be all that He's created me to be, than I have of teaching BabyK how to make cookies. Thankfully, just as I am up for the challenge, I know He is too.
Isaiah 54:13
"All your children will be taught by the LORD, and great will be their peace."
